In Spain, there are several types of residence permits by roots (Arraigo) that allow foreign citizens to legalize their stay in the country

Types of Residence Permits

Spanish Social Residency (Arraigo Social): requirements for 3-year residency, job contract criteria, and social integration evidence.

Arraigo Social

Arraigo Social is a residence permit for those who have lived in Spain for at least three years, have social and economic ties to the country, and can provide an employment contract or proof of income. Applicants must also provide documents confirming their integration into Spanish society, such as registration with local authorities (empadronamiento) and participation in social integration programs.

Frequently asked questions about immigration and legal assistance in Spain

Can I get a residence permit in Spain if I work remotely for a non-European company?

Yes, this is what the Digital Nomad visa is for. The main requirement is a verified income of at least €3,175 per month. Our lawyers will help you prepare the necessary documents to meet the requirements of the Spanish Immigration Service (Extranjería).

How long does it take to open a company in Spain?

On average, the company registration process (Sociedad Limitada) takes 3 to 6 weeks. This includes obtaining a NIE for the founders, opening a bank account, preparing the articles of association, and registering with a notary. We assist you every step of the way, expediting the process.

I bought property in Spain. Can I get a residence permit right away?

If your property is valued at €500,000 or more (excluding mortgage), you may be eligible for an investor residence permit (Golden Visa). If the amount is less, purchasing real estate is an advantage, but not a direct basis for a residence permit. We can find another type of residency for you.

What is NIE and why is it needed?

The NIE (Number of Foreigners Identification) is a foreigner's identification number required for all financial and legal transactions in Spain, from purchasing real estate to opening a bank account. We can help you obtain your NIE both in Spain and through the consulate.

What is the difference between the help of a "gestor" and a lawyer (abogado)?

Hestor handles administrative and paperwork, but is not authorized to represent you in court or provide full legal advice on complex matters. A lawyer is a licensed attorney who can handle your case from start to finish, including court proceedings, and is responsible for their actions.

Do you work with visa and residence permit refusals?

Yes, this is one of our strengths. We analyze the reason for the refusal, prepare and submit an appeal (recurso de alzada or reposición) within the legally established deadlines, representing your interests before administrative authorities.

Arraigo para la Formación
(Training Roots)

Arraigo para la Formación allows foreigners who have lived in Spain for at least two years to obtain a residence permit to undertake professional or specialized training. Applicants must provide proof of continuous residence in the country, a clean criminal record, and a commitment to complete the training. This type of residence permit does not grant the right to work, but it can be modified into a regular work permit upon completing the training and receiving a job offer.
