For example, based on the minimum wage required to obtain a residence permit under the Digital Nomad program, you will need to pay a social security contribution of €80 per month during the first year.
In the second year, this amount increases to approximately €300-400.
You will also need to pay income tax at a progressive rate of 19% to 47%, which amounts to approximately 24-30% of your net income.
To make it clearer, let's look at the formula: for example, you earned €30,240 in a year, of which you paid €960 in social security contributions as an autonomous entrepreneur.
This yields a net income of €29,280. You then need to pay income tax at a rate of, say, 25%, which amounts to €7,560.
So, out of €30,240 per year, you'll pay €8,520, which is approximately €710 per month.
It's important to consider tax optimization options, such as deducting VAT (IVA) from your tax burden.
This deduction is possible if you declare expenses related to your business, such as the purchase of a laptop or phone, utility bills, if you use your apartment as an office, etc.
